Experienced Golfer...that's if you have been playing golf for 6 months or
longer.
After 40 years of playing and teaching I would say a poor hold of the club is
by far the
MOST COMMON
reason why golfers don't improve.
A poor grip will limit your progress. It can also be a contributing cause of
every bad shot in
golf. Slice, hook, pull & push - a poor grip can cause them all.
Yet golfers invest money in new golf equipment thinking it is the reason for
their lack of
progress. It may not be your golf clubs that restrict your progress or make you
slice and
hook - it could be the way you hold onto them.
Look at the
Grip Check
page on this site
There are
8
ways of identifying a faulty grip.
If you 'see yourself' among one or more of the 8 checkpoints
BUY
yourself a pair
of the gloves.
When you get the gloves follow the 4 step process detailed on the instruction
sheet.
That way you will make sure you place the club in the correct position of the
palms of
both hands. The gloves will help you align your hands correctly in relation to
the club.
Any change will feel uncomfortable to start so be patient. It may take you
several
practise sessions before you feel at ease with the grip the gloves give you.
That grip will enable you to square the club face up at impact. That means
greater
distance and accuracy. You won't have to apply a vice-like grip to control the
club.
You will find the Griperfect grip will also give you a better feel for your
swing.
One other added bonus - use the gloves to check two key stages of your swing.
The flashes on
the top of both gloves act as a guide so you can see you have the club on
track.
The gloves conform to USGA rules. The R and A have deemed that the gloves do not
breach the rules of golf. You can wear one or both when you practise and play.
